Open Folio Archive

About

Open Folio Archive is a catalogue of digitised editions of printed works that are in the public domain.

How volumes are prepared

  1. Every leaf is scanned in order, including covers, fold-outs and blank pages.
  2. Master TIFF files are kept unaltered apart from cropping to the page edge.
  3. PDF editions are generated from the masters, in full and reduced resolution.
  4. Checksums are produced for every published file.

Scope

The archive concentrates on illustrated works — natural history, anatomy, early science and mathematics — where image quality matters most.
