Master sets are large. These notes help you fetch them reliably.

Resuming interrupted downloads

The server supports HTTP range requests, so an interrupted transfer can continue from where it stopped. Most download managers do this automatically; on the command line use curl -C - or wget -c.

Verifying files

Compare each bundle against its .sha256 file:

sha256sum -c hooke-micrographia-1665_01.tif.sha256

If the check fails, download the bundle again; partial or damaged files will not match.

Disk space

Unpacked master sets need roughly the same space again as the downloaded bundles. Check free space before starting a large collection.

Re-use

The works themselves are in the public domain. You are free to copy, print and adapt the scans.
